This is a short module with professionally prepared and succinct pieces on what HIPAA means to the medical transcriptionist. We will provide copies of articles provided by the American Medical Association and the American Association for Medical Transcription, as well as a short synopsis of the findings provided by governing foundation for HIPAA itself. We'll give you some "what if" real-life scenarios and teach you how to handle security and confidentiality of patient information. All of these issues will be reinforced in your other books including the AAMT Book of Style and the Independent Medical Transcriptionist.
- Medical Transcription Practice
This is the heart of your training, and where you will put it all together! You’ll have actual live voice files to transcribe (approximately 100 files) generated by a variety of physicians, PA-Cs, nurses, physical therapists, and healthcare providers, along with the transcripts. You’ll learn all the standard report formats. We have a special emphasis in acute care and hospital dictation including operative reports, discharge summaries, emergency medicine, and hospital history and physicals. Of course, you’ll also get the chance to transcribe private practice, physical therapy, and private healthcare settings in a wide variety of specialties including orthopedics, urology, pediatrics, hematology/oncology, family practice, and many others. You’ll be provided a foot pedal, headset, and training in how to access your files. We’ll be with you all the way, and you’ll have access to your mentors and trainers, who of course are also medical transcriptionists! We also have a technical team standing by to assist you with any technical needs that may arise as you download and use the voice files, your foot pedal, and your computer.
